Frequently Asked Questions
Who is this gathering for?
Legends of Tracking is designed for educators, staff, and leaders from wilderness schools and outdoor programs. Whether you’re a seasoned teacher or growing your skillset, this event welcomes those committed to learning and sharing outdoor knowledge with others.
Is this an 18 & up only event?
Because this is a gathering for edcuators, it is primarily for adults 18 and older. Advanced Trackers teen students or teen contingents from partner schools may attend by prior arrangement with their school and Trackers Earth—and with a chaperone solely responsible for the cohort in attendance to maintain healthy boundaries so our guest edcuators can focus entirely on being a student.
What is included with registration?
Your tuition includes access to all workshops, free on-site tent camping, Saturday night’s community feast, and use of outdoor kitchen facilities. There are no extra materials or equipment fees.
What should I bring?
Bring your own camping gear, food for meals other than Saturday dinner, and any items you'd like to share or trade during the Saturday evening Trade Blanket. A complete packing list is emailed after registration.
Can I attend with my school or organization?
Absolutely. We encourage schools and teams to attend together under a shared banner. Group camping areas are available by reservation, and coordinated scholarships can support your team’s attendance.
What is your Code of Conduct?
We gather to learn, to teach, and to keep traditional skills alive—so they can be passed on to the next generation. We strive to create a space of safety, stewardship, and shared purpose.
By attending Legends of Tracking, you agree to the following community expectations:
- Respect the Land and Each Other – Treat fellow participants, staff, and the land with care and courtesy. Help maintain a safe, inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of background.
- Honor Boundaries & Consent – Ask before entering someone’s space or touching gear. Respect emotional, physical, and cultural boundaries at all times.
- Keep Fires Safe – No personal campfires, candles, lanterns, or cooking stoves are allowed outside designated fire pit rings and communal kitchens. Fire extinguishers and water buckets will be maintained near cooking zones. Fire safety stewards are on-site and must be obeyed.
- Report Issues Promptly – Concerns about safety, conduct, or environmental care should be brought to the on-site Safety Officer & Stewardship Officer.
- Respect the Rhythm – Quiet hours are from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. No amplified music or PA systems are allowed without prior approval.
- Camp in Designated Areas – Follow signage and staff guidance when setting up tents. Do not create new sites or trails.
- Leave No Trace – Help keep the land clean and wild. Use compost and gray water stations where provided, and pack out what you bring in.
- Do not center this on politics. – Folks are coming from all walks of life. We’re here to share skills, not center it on ideology. Think of it like the zombie apocalypse just happened—you want to train with the best, not debate how to vote.
We welcome people of all backgrounds and ask that everyone stay focused on our shared purpose: gathering as educators to learn traditional skills and pass them on to our students and communities. This is a gathering built on mutual trust. Trackers Earth reserves the right to ask anyone to leave if they violate the spirit of this agreement.
