Realms Immersion: Wilderness Quest

The Realms of Cascadia: Wilderness Quest is a 9-month intensive that combines hands-on wilderness survival training with immersive role-play. Guided by expert Realms mentors, you join a fellowship of adventurers to learn core skills that ground your story in the wild. Each ability you gain levels up your character in the Realms—transforming survival practice into story, and story into an epic quest.

Wilderness Survival: Build debris shelters, find and purify water, and make fire in all weather—core bushcraft to thrive on real-world quests.

Tracking & Pathfinding: Read clear and subtle sign while navigating by map, compass, and natural cues (sun, stars, shadow) through forest and field.

Foraging & Outdoor Cooking: Identify and harvest wild edibles, fish streams, and cook hearty camp meals over the community fire.

Archery & Stealth: Train archery on our private ranges; practice movement, concealment, and camouflage (cover, shadow, freeze).

Bird Language: Learn to interpret bird alarms to detect people, predators, and opportunities as you quest through the forest.

Blacksmithing Day: Work the forge to craft simple tools or hooks—functional pieces that become story artifacts in the Realms.

Realms Character Quest

Step into the Realms of Cascadia, where each skill you’ve gained becomes an ability for your character.

Character Creation: Shape your persona, refine your backstory, choose a lineage, and set your destiny in the Realms.

Quests & Challenges: Quest as a fellowship to solve problems, complete missions, and face encounters from your survival training.

Role-Play as Strategy: Build collaboration, resilience, and tactical thinking together in high-stakes, story-driven play that tests your party.

Artifact & Lore Building: Forge, carve, and craft in-world artifacts—tools imbued with shared story, meaning, and personal skill.

Every quest ties back to the wilderness arts you’ve learned—you don’t just play a character, you become one through skill and story.

Who This Is For

The Realms of Cascadia: Wilderness Quest is for adults (18+) who:

  • Love role-playing games and LARP—take it off the table and into the forest.
  • Crave real skills—fire, foraging, blacksmithing, archery—to bring role-play to life.
  • Seek immersive community—learn with a like-minded fellowship of adventurers.
  • Value character building—explore leadership, creativity, and growth through myth.

This program is for adults who want to merge their love of Live Action Role-Playing with the useful skills that make an immersive world. We need gamers, makers, creatives, and seekers who want both the competence of wilderness survival and the fantastic myth of questing.

Our Place

For Immersion, we provide transport in vans from Trackers Basecamp to wilderness field sites and campsites specific to the day's activities. Our destinations may include Trackers' private 351-acre wildlife park and our 100-acre farm and forest. When the weather calls for it, we might choose to stay closer to home, learning hands-on folk crafts in our art studios and utilizing nearby natural areas. Students can optionally self-transport to field sites if they wish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this program require prior experience?
No. Familiarity with Trackers, LARP, or bushcraft helps, but all skill levels are welcome.

Is this combat-focused?
Story and skills come first. We use safe LARP practices (consent, clear calls, boffer/foam implements only) and may include archery ranges with strict safety rules.

What are the sleeping accommodations?
Participants bring a 3-season sleeping bag, pad, and tent (recommendations provided). Most activities occur outdoors—this is authentic camping.

What kind of meals are served?
Trackers provides the Saturday community dinner. You provide breakfasts and lunches; we supply outdoor cooking setups. Depending on season and logistics, meals are cooked over fire or propane stoves. Menus are hearty and camp-style. If you have specific dietary needs, plan to bring your own dinner. Foraging and camp-crafted foods may be included when appropriate.

What gear should I pack?
Before the program starts, we send a detailed packing list for all-weather camping and field training (sleep system, clothing, personal kit). Optional LARP costuming is welcome if practical for outdoor use.

How demanding is the training?
Expect focused, hands-on instruction comparable to disciplined martial arts practice. Survival, tracking, and awareness require diligence; the work builds humility, patience, and strategic thinking.

What about blacksmithing and artifacts?
Select weekends include a Blacksmithing Day. You’ll safely forge simple items that can become in-world artifacts for your character.

Who are the mentors?
Realms Guides are veteran Trackers instructors who design curriculum, lead field days, and support your progression. They check in regularly and are available for coaching on skills, practice sites, and character development.
