Morning Improvisational Theater
Creativity is an attitude, a way of looking at something, a way of questioning, perhaps a way of life – it may well be found on paths we have not yet traveled. -Viola Spolin, Improvisation for the Theater
Why do we play? We play for enjoyment, entertainment, and fun, but we also play to learn. When we play together, we learn to trust each other. It takes a brave person to risk looking silly in a group of others, and it happens all too soon that we grow into rigid, uncompromising individuals who are too afraid to try new things for fear of what people might think.
Improvisational Theater provides an outlet for individuality as well as an inlet for creative collaboration.
This program is designed to fulfill the requirement of play inherent in all of us from birth. It introduces students to the art of improvisational performance through the structured playing of games, physical activities, and creative movement exercises. Participation in this program develops a student's ability to explore choices of action on stage by establishing and maintaining a focus on theatrical play, encouraging students to view improvisation as a life-enhancing experience extending beyond the classroom/workshop space.
You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than you can in a year of conversation. –Plato
Afternoon Theatrical Production
Why do we tell stories?
Stories entertain, teach lessons, and pass along important information and wisdom through the ages. They show us who we are and forges connection between all of us. Stories keep us alive.
It's the adventure of a lifetime as we take the Trackers tale of Rangers and Wilders, make our own costumes, set, and props and perform it at the Scout Pit for our families. This is community theater at its most wild and raw.
Together as Artisans, as storytellers, musicians, dancers, creative folk and crafts people we choose a classic story and "Trackerize" it. That is to say we adapt it, creating a grand theatrical production that tells the tale of culture connected to the land. One populated by Rangers, Wilders, Mariners and Artisans. Finally we showcase that production for our family and friends on our openining night.
Free Care between 12pm-1pm if you sign up for both classes on the same day.

The Artisans are theater, music and fine crafts folk. Their trade and circus opens our eyes to both noble purpose and subtle, quiet reflection. They carry the stories that remind us of where we've been and connect us to visions of where we are going. They tell the tales that reveal to us who we truly are.
