Portland Wildlife Tracking Taster Day
Only $25 This 3-hour course serves as a valuable introduction into the core study of Wildlife Tracking. Join the Trackers Rangers Guild for an introduction to wildlife tracking as you connect to nature through an ancient way of uncovering the mysteries of the natural world. Begin to see animals such as bear, elk and cougar as though they are part of an extended family. Explore tracking as an effective tool for expanding awareness and developing naturalist skills.
Wildlife Observation and Insight
The Ragners Guild teaches tracking with the intention of one day seeing the animal. This forces you to look more deeply as you understand their habits, needs and how they survive the wilds. While tracking deer, bobcats, red fox and other animals we cover more then clear prints in the sand or mud, we teach easy ways to train to see tracks and sign over leaf litter, moss or grass.
Awareness, Ecology and Problem Solving
Tracking trains you to look deeper into the mysteries of the natural world. The ability to follow a deer trail to the deer itself tests you to think on your feet and develop what we call "hyper-adaptive" learning. If you have ever been to any other tracking courses, this one will fundamentally shift how you think about the art.
Familial Understanding
We don't simply track the deer we read about in the field guide. Our methodology insists that you get to know individual animals in your area. That time following that specific bear or coyote will teach you more than only academic theory.

Caring for Urban Greenspaces
This taster serves as an opportunity to teach important and vital knowledge in an urban environment. In that vein, we deeply respect our urban greenspaces and utilize their limited ecosystems strictly for observation. We actively discourage all unauthorized harvest and inappropriate use of our greenspaces in order to protect these invaluable resources unique to our city. More advanced classes for restorative harvest and off-trail study occur on private land.
