Portland, Oregon Stalking, Movement and Camouflage

Modern camouflage clothing is good for those who want to view deer from a distance. Primitive, natural camo is for those that want to stalk up to, and touch one. As a modern society we have moved a way from the pure forms of movement that our ancestors perfected over countless generations. If we want to truly move with the ebb and flow of the wild places we need utilize the movement methods of our forbearers. -Tom Brown III

The Rangers Guild of TrackersNW is proud to host Tom Brown III in a class that explores the art of stalking, movement and camouflage.

This workshop helps students capture the pure movement utilized by our hunter-gatherer ancestors as they lived and thrived in the natural world. We explore how to match our movements to many different scenarios, whether stalking an animal to harvest with a throwing stick or simply wandering through the forest. Students also learn how stalking and movement relate to awareness. They develop the understanding to apply these principles into all aspects of their lives.

We also explore the concepts of natural camouflage, whether applied directly on to the skin or on clothing. It is an art form superior to any purchased or commercial camouflage clothing. You can quickly create patterns that are specific to your area and bioregon, allowing you to blend in whereever you might be.

When stalking and camouflage are combined effectively, you can literally become invisible in the woods. This allows you to get closer to nature, and be a more effective hunter-gatherer for your village.

This class is taught by Tom Brown III of the Primitive Arts Collective.
