Staying on Track: Teen Intern Training and Work-Study
2nd
February

Trackers started as a tracking and wilderness skills club for teens. Now 5-years later I find myself intensely scrutinizing what we offer (always). We provide an incredible array of youth camps for ages 4-13 and an extensive range of adult programs. I'm proud of what we've accomplished yet also chagrin to have strayed from our roots.

Teen classes with Trackers can be rare. To be honest, it's the result of historically sparse attendance. It took me awhile to realize why it was hard to get inspired young adults into our programs. It's about service, or lack thereof. Camp works great for kids, being a vital mix of intensive play and learning. And our adult programs are a rally cry to become that ambassador "for a culture that does not yet exist". But teens, they need a rite of passage. For them the journey of child to adult must be defined by service and commitment to family and community. As leaders, we need to step up and provide these opportunities.

As the founder of Trackers I'm very proud to announce our official work-study program created specifically to fill that void.

Teen Intern Work Study: Summer 2010 Ages 16-19 From now until summer spend one weekend a month up at the Trackers Homestead. Train with our leading wilderness skills instructors (from our famous TrackersTEAMS Wilderness Immersion Program). Then apply your new super powers in the role of assistant teacher at our 2010 Summer Camps and other youth programs. This work-study experience teaches one of the highest level of wilderness skills for any Teen Assistant Trainings in our region, likely even the world. Plus its free to qualified applicants.
