Noble Muppets
22nd
October

There's not a word yet for old friends who've just met.
Part heaven, part space, or have I found my place?
You can just visit, but I plan to stay.
I'm going to go back there someday.

So says Gonzo the Great in his eloquent Muppet Movie ballad. There's a point in a village where art rises above the den of "progress" and "self-expression". It asks us to remember what love means. One might try to tell me that the Muppets weren't great art... ha. The kind of art I'm referring to is more important then great, its noble.

Sincerity in music, story and pictures is vital to recenter ourselves to what's truly important. Watch the viewing graph of many YouTube videos, they often have an immediate drop off in watchers if something "fantastic" doesn't happen in the first 5 seconds. In the Twitter or Facebook feed its nearly impossible to articulate the tone of sweet melancholy that this song embodied (particularly with Rowlf the dog accompanying on the harmonica).

None of us have enough of those slowing moments in our lives anymore. So we really do need those stories that help us to slow down, reminding us that, "There's not a word yet for old friends who've just met."
