The porch, the garden and the forest
27th
August

Through Trackers I live a life where many, many people want to have meetings with me. Most of its enjoyable and the opportunity for the many diverse connections is both epic and enriching. Yet I remember a simpler time when I was that teenager who's life mission was to explore the woods and the wild while planting a garden that fed his family. I got to make a daily habit of searching for the subtle qualities of fox sign, planting corn in mounds and taking naps outdoors under the douglas fir tree.

Now I get to relive that life. In moving up to the new Trackers Homestead I have an excuse to not schedule "very important" meetings in Portland coffee shops or find myself at TrackersHQ moving a trailer and mopping the floors (though I really enjoy the meditative quality of all the fixit stuff I have to do). I will only be connected as far as a shoddy satellite internet connection and weak cell phone service will allow. I'm excited that after years of work, Trackers can be Trackers without me constantly present. (It will be 5 years by September 5, 2009).

I'm excited to have a porch to sit on, a garden to tend to and wilderness to wander while looking for fox in my own back yard. So if you need to get in touch with me, that's where I can be found sitting on the back porch while better people than I carry on the day to day. All this, plus I get to go take a nap under a doug fir.

So come join us at the Homestead for a pancake breakfast, explorations of the wildlife refuge, a beautiful place to have a picnic and a local foods potluck followed by a rollicking dancing good time hoe down.
